My Happy Meal

There was a small piece of paper you gave me last year.

In a pretty shade of purple.

Lavender, maybe. I don't know.

I found a handmade necklace inside. Turquoise, quartz. Semi precious stones.

All wrapped in paper that had ants crawling all over it. Ants here and there.

"You're my cotton cloud, my Happy Meal."

I loved that necklace. I still do.

But I never wore it.

Dangly things at my neck make me nervous. They highlight my collarbone.

Maybe this year I'll remove my shamrock pendant and wear that pretty necklace you gave me.

I can risk not feeling lucky for a day.

After all, I was a Happy Meal once.
